What does Mexicayotl Mean and What does the School Logo Stand For?
The word Mexicayotl comes from Nahuatl, which is a languages that has been around since remote times. Until today this language is spoken by the people better known as AZTECS.
Mexicayotl is divided up into three parts:
MEXI- meaning the cord of life
CA- meaning to form part of, 1) what is said 2) what is described
YOTL- meaning the impulse of, what makes things flow, the essence of a deep sacred energy.
MEXICAYOTL means the one who pertains to the energetic cord of life.
The Mexicayotl logo is broken into 3 parts
The black and white color - Ometeotl that stand for duality or positive and negative energy
-
Ollin, the in and out circular motion which is the is measure and movement, or space and time. The Aztecs inherited much of their culture from the civilizations that preceded them, including that of the Maya of Southern Mexico and Central America. The Maya were great astronomers and mathematicians who perfected the calendars the Aztecs inherited.
-
The Papalotl which is the Nahuatl word for butterfly. Why a butterfly you ask?

Mexicayotl is all about change, look closely at the symbol, it has a representation of a butterfly
How does this compare to Mexicayotl?
Butterflies undergo complete metamorphosis in which they go through four different life changes (stages). This also happens with the formation of Mexica.
Egg - A butterfly starts its life as an egg. (In this stage a student learns the balance between the physical and mental through auto discipline)
-
Larva - The larva (caterpillar). (In this stage the student learns the symmetry between him and the world around him.)
-
Pupa - It turns into a pupa (chrysalis). (In this stage the student learns the balance between him and the society he pertains to.)
-
Adult - A beautiful, flying adult emerges. (In this stage the student learns how to be part of society - Self Identity
